Why A Company Picnic?

The Benefits of Getting Your Team Together OUTSIDE of the Office!

Company picnics, when done the right way, can be one of the most beneficial activities for both you and your employees!  The corporate world has drastically changed over the last 20 years. The younger generations are less likely to remain loyal to the same company throughout their entire career, mirroring the dip in loyalty to employees that companies have shown in the last two decades. In a competitive job market, it’s more important than ever to reduce the amount of turnover. The hiring and training process can be quite a chunk of change, especially if one party decides it’s not the right move. Company picnics are a great way to build the type of positive environment that can make a huge, positive impact on many facets of your business.

1. Thank Your Employees: Not surprising, the best reason to have a company picnic for your employees is it simply thank them for a great effort. The best way to keep and retain employees is to make sure they feel valued and heard. By going above and beyond you demonstrate how valuable they are to you. This will, in turn, earn more loyalty from them.

2. Spark Creativity: There’s nothing better for a surge of creativity than a change of scenery. In an informal setting, your team members will develop a more natural flow of ideas between each other, and some great breakthroughs have been known to happen over a game of miniature golf.

3. Team Building: It’s been a problem in sports for many years: a team that doesn’t play as a team will never win championships. You may have the best talent in the world, but until everyone can learn to work together and play off each other, you’re not going to get very far. The same is true with your team of employees. And the best way to get your team together? A company outing! Unstructured, relaxed socializing. The bonds that form organically are much stronger than when they are forced. Your staff will appreciate it!

4. Morale Boost: It’s no secret that happy employees are more productive. There are an infinite number of ways to boost employee morale, so I won’t get into listing things like that. One of the sure-fire routes that gets nearly immediate results is the company picnic! Also consider inviting the families of your employees. When someone feels valued, they will work harder for you. And when you bring in family as well, it helps bond the employees together even further; both with each other and loyalty to the company.

These are only a few of the great reasons to plan a picnic for your group.

But here, we always think the #1 reason is because it’s FUN!! Take the day off to relax and let us handle the stress. Our motto isn’t “Life’s a Picnic” for nothing!
